May we show you something….
…..May – This is when you are definitely stepping out and enjoying the garden, we’ve enjoyed a good winter encountered the April showers and still managed to counter on. What will be your garden project this year, we have worked on some amazing projects recently and glad to see water has become part of our lives again. The team have worked on a removing an old garden to replace with new beds and borders and framing, we are then getting ready to plant this up to show it off in all it’s glory, we will make sure you get to see this, watch this space. Sleepers have been a theme for a while it’s definitely a consistent product, the last couple of years it’s been steel in the garden, which I do enjoy the change in effect in the elements and the same with copper. Copper is what we have used to make Rose Arches, Crooks and it’s also been used as uprights to the banisters of our own pergola. There are certain materials that work, but remember don’t use too many, it’s best to get ideas out there and then ask for a design it will help build a picture, especially if you aren’t sure what you need or want from your garden. As the industry changes and it is, for us it’s noticeable especially from a planting point of view, varieties are not available when they used to be, growers are changing the way they do things, where this change is coming from, we are not sure. It could be a combination of trade, domestic and of course international issues, as although we have some great growers in this country we do buy from abroad as well. It’s been hard this winter as I have been unable to purchase the perennials, I would normally have the choice to, some nurseries have changed what they buy in or what they grow, and this must be due to demand. I would like to say the autumn and winter are the best times to plant like this as the plant gets to settle, and does not require quite so much attention the following year, now it seems it’s purchase in spring/summer and water like crazy, seems mad to me but maybe they know something I don’t. However, we are battling with and hopefully winning, we are still working hard, on the design and landscaping needs of our clients, one material on our next project will be a composite deck emerging from a modern office. With planting and patio to compliment the whole garden looking forward to seeing that design finished. At present the team are finish another pond, this one is slightly out of the ground, client request and Christian has had to use his expertise when it comes to the pump and filter, he never falters when it comes to ponds so here’s to the next one.
